Artist, owner of Polka Dot Studio

Vikki Salmela knew at six, with her first gallery opening in a sauna dressing room, she was headed for a life of managing her creative talents. With two degrees in design, from FIT in New York and UW-Madison, she successfully creates artful expressions through her company Polka Dot Studio. Her designs are sold throughout the Apparel and Home Industries, on fabrics and a variety of products worldwide. Vikki has been a guest speaker at art institutes and universities, as well as the Smithsonian art museums. Her watercolor, Koi Pond, recently won the prestigious Golden Image Award at SGIA-Expo, an International Specialty Printing and Imaging Technology Show.

Vikki got her certification in Professional Photo Organizing through APPO, and is combining her artistic spirit with that of helping others restore and share their memories through creative venues. It’s one of her most rewarding accomplishments.

Her inspiration comes from visually absorbing the world around her, whether outdoors, or people watching in a crowd, catching color, pattern, and textures.

When not in the studio, she can be seen hiking a mountain, gardening or cuddling her dog.
