About Artflakes

Artflakes was founded by Niklas Bolle.

ARTFLAKES is a community marketplace where you can buy, sell, and discover exciting art and photography from around the world.

We are a young and international team from Berlin, openhearted and with a passion for art, design and photography… and the internet.

Combining both – fantastic artworks with the possibilities of the world wide web – that is what ARTFLAKES is about.

We want to help artists, photographers, illustrators and archives to sell their work as real products. And we help all individualists of this world to stop buying standardised goods off the peg.

At ARTFLAKES you will find posters, framed art prints, canvas prints and greeting cards from international artists and image archives. Things you won’t find anywhere else. Every product you order at ARTFLAKES is produced individually just for YOU. With all the care an artwork deserves.

If you happen to make art professionally or in secret you are welcome to join ARTFLAKES. Simply upload your pictures. If one of your artworks is ordered, we handle for you printing, shipping and payment. For every sale you get a commission.

Some info on Artflakes

Artflakes has an excess of people uploading work, which is not curated or monitored for infringement, quality or commercial viability. They tend to have “stabled/popular” artists who they promote and feature, so you get lost in the crowd.

Their product line is limited to print only.

They do have watermarking on their images for security purposes.

Artists can order own work at a discount, and have multiple accounts (as long as there is a different email). Notable issues are sales are low, and the uploading takes time and has limited scope for manipulation.

No issues with art flakes as a prospective artist!

Summary

Artflakes is a European start up that has been around for a while. It has a good base of artists, due to not being curated, which leaves artists in to wild as far as recognition. The comments come through that it's more of a portfolio site than a sales site as sales are few and far between, but it does have a reputation of good quality work.
